These plates are made from carbon-manganese steel, featuring carefully regulated carbon content (0.25% max for Gr.60, 0.28% max for Gr.70), manganese (0.85–1.20%), phosphorus (≤0.035%), and sulfur (≤0.035%). This composition ensures excellent weldability and toughness. Mechanically, they boast a tensile strength ranging from 415 to 620 MPa, yield strength between 260 and 350 MPa, and an elongation of 20–22%, depending on the grade. To enhance notch toughness and prevent hydrogen-induced cracking, these plates are either normalized or quenched and tempered, making them suitable for low-temperature and high-pressure environments while maintaining their structural integrity.
